Most dog breeders will support the local purebreed rescues and post pictures of available adoptees.
Thus in 1907 a few breeders of the region of Burgdorf decided to promote the pure breeding of this native dog. The breed progressed steadily in Switzerland, and eventually found admirers in other countries as well. Nowadays this is one of the most admired breeds.

By the end of the 19th century the breed was almost extinct but soon the breeders understood that it has a lot of strong points and decided to breed the dog professionally. Thus in 1902, 1904 and 1907 subjects of this breed were already exhibited at dog shows. Most dog breeders will support the local purebreed rescues and post pictures of available adoptees.
